One of our forum users is single-handedly organising an event in aid of Leukaemia Research and in memory of their mother, Jane Cole, who died very suddenly from leukaemia aged just 52 in 2006.
There will be lots of entertanment on the day all generously donated by local businesses including bouncy castles, a face painter, a medal engraver, a marching band (which happens to include two of my children!) and a balloon race.
The Mayor of Farnham is opening the event and the Golf Club Cafe are open for food and drink.
Farnham Park is such a beautiful, often forgotten part of our local countryside and was once a Medieval deer park, used as a hunting ground for royalty. The walk will take you over streams, past two old oak trees that Henry VIII would have ridden past and give you a fantastic view of Farnham town at the highest point of the park.
Registration fees include a t-shirt to wear on the day, goody bag, sponsor form and medal. Adult £7.50, Child £5, Family £20.
You can enter online at
www.forgetmenotwalks.com, by calling
020 7269 9006 or by popping into Boots Opticians in Farnham.
So spread the word! We would love to help raise as much money as possible for this very worthwhile cause and would also love to encourage people to rediscover Farnham Park.
